Betsafe’s relatives, and why the country matters

Betsson, NordicBet and Rizk are the clearest starting points for understanding Betsafe’s corporate family. Betsson Group names all three alongside Betsafe on its brand page. Betsson is its principal global brand; Betsafe, NordicBet and Rizk have regional roles.

For British readers, this is a comparison of related businesses and their history. Betsafe left the British market in 2020. Its continued presence in overseas app stores and sporting sponsorships does not mean that the British service has reopened.

Older Betsafe family lists also include CasinoEuro and NorgesAutomaten. CasinoEuro appears in Betsson’s early corporate announcements, while NorgesAutomaten became part of a separate brand acquisition. EuroCasino has its own name, domain and app, and should not be confused with CasinoEuro.

What Betsafe offered

Betsafe combines sports betting with casino games. Its publisher’s app listing describes pre-match and live betting, live scores, casino tables and slots. The illustrated sports screens use a black background, red highlights and separate live and upcoming views. Its casino illustration shows a grid of jackpot games instead of match prices.

The sports and casino screens make that split easy to see. One begins with a highlighted football fixture above the event list. Another groups games under a jackpot heading, with titles including Mega Moolah, Cash Splash and Golden Money Frog. These are examples from the publisher’s promotional images; the fixtures, jackpots and game selection pictured are historical.

The listing also describes live streaming for selected sports and distinguishes cash poker from its faster Blaze format. These are features of the advertised overseas product.

Betsson

Betsson is the group’s main consumer brand, as well as the name associated with its parent company. Its connection to Betsafe became formal when Betsson completed the acquisition of Betsafe in June 2011. Today the group describes Betsson as its global brand, while using selected regional brands where they have a distinct local role.

The Betsson app listing combines sportsbook and casino functions. Its published features include saving a league, team or event to favourites, following live scores and reviewing bet history. The illustrated league screen uses a pale background and orange header, unlike Betsafe’s predominantly dark sports screens. Separate fixture rows carry their own prices and market counts.

Both apps cover sports and casino, but the illustrated navigation, colour scheme and ways of returning to a favourite event differ. The publisher also lists roulette, blackjack and slots within Betsson’s casino product. Betsson’s lighter event list and Betsafe’s dark match cards give the two sportsbooks a noticeably different appearance.

Betsson’s role can change by country. In June 2025, the group announced that its Lithuanian Betsafe operation was becoming Betsson. That was a regional rebrand, not an announcement that Betsafe had vanished everywhere. The timeline below explains how the Lithuanian business reached that point.

NordicBet

NordicBet entered the family through a different acquisition. Betsson’s 2012 announcement described Nordic Gaming Group’s sportsbook, casino and poker business, aimed primarily at Nordic and Baltic customers. The transaction also included Tobet and Triobet. Betsson subsequently announced completion of the NordicBet acquisition on 20 June 2012.

The regional emphasis remains visible in the NordicBet app description, which names Allsvenskan football and Pesäpallo alongside international sport. Its published screenshots use blue branding and separate sports and casino views. The pictured casino screen has a jackpot category, game thumbnails and a filter control.

Golden Money Frog appears in the publisher’s NordicBet and Betsafe casino illustrations. NordicBet’s pictured selection also includes Dragon’s Luck and Mega Jade. This shows some overlap in the products being promoted, while the blue-and-white interface gives NordicBet a different appearance. It does not establish identical versions, limits or promotional eligibility for every game.

NordicBet is consequently a closer comparison to Betsafe’s combined sports-and-casino offering than a brand devoted solely to casino games. Its coverage of regional competitions gives it a particular Nordic focus. The applicable country version determines which product and account terms a customer receives.

Rizk

Rizk joined Betsson through the 2020 acquisition of Gaming Innovation Group’s B2C business. Betsson’s company history names Rizk alongside Guts, GutsXpress, Kaboo and Thrills in that transaction. It therefore arrived in the group years after Betsafe and NordicBet.

Rizk’s visual identity is particularly distinctive. The homepage image shows its red-and-yellow superhero character beside the Wheel of Rizk. The dark side menu separates Games, Live Casino, Sports, Promotions, Rizk Races and Rizk Raffles. The wheel and character occupy far more space than a list of individual sporting fixtures.

The wheel, character and branded competitions give Rizk a different emphasis from the event-led Betsafe and Betsson app screens. Casino promotions occupy the centre of the illustrated homepage, while sports have a separate menu entry. The euro-denominated welcome offer in the image is historical and is not a current British offer.

Rizk has an important place in the British closure story. Betsson chose it as the single brand on which to concentrate its UK business in 2020. That historical decision must be read alongside the later surrender of Zecure Gaming Limited’s British casino permission in June 2026. The old consolidation announcement is not evidence of current UK availability.

EuroCasino and CasinoEuro are different names

EuroCasino uses the eurocasino.com domain. Its app listing identifies NGG Nordic Limited as the publisher, alongside the Betsafe, Betsson and NordicBet apps. The listing’s last shown version update is dated 1 July 2020, so it is useful historical product evidence rather than a current British offer guide.

The illustrated EuroCasino lobby uses blue panels and yellow highlights. Recommended games, slots and jackpots have separate tabs, with a popularity selector above the game grid. Book of Dead, Starburst, Bonanza and Wolf Gold appear in the slots image. A separate live-casino image shows dealer and game-show thumbnails, demonstrating the difference between the slot catalogue and the live section.

This is a casino-focused presentation, whereas the Betsafe and NordicBet combined apps also place sports fixtures at the centre of their navigation. The three EuroCasino tabs divide the catalogue by game type, making the slots grid a different starting point from a list of live sporting events.

CasinoEuro, on casinoeuro.com, is a separate brand name with the words in the opposite order. Betsson’s 2011 acquisition announcement already listed CasinoEuro among its websites. It also appears beside Betsson in the historical Betsafe illustration below. Neither a similar name nor a shared corporate history makes the two domains interchangeable for an old login, account statement or complaint.

NorgesAutomaten and the older family history

NorgesAutomaten has a documented connection through the Automaten transaction. In its 2013 acquisition announcement, Betsson named NorgesAutomaten, SverigeAutomaten and DanmarksAutomaten as brands being acquired from Cherry.

The announcement explained an unusual detail: Betsson’s Maltese subsidiary already operated those sites. The transaction added ownership of the brands and responsibility for their external marketing. This was therefore a change in brand ownership and commercial responsibility, rather than the first moment the businesses had worked together.

The transaction explains NorgesAutomaten’s appearance in older Betsafe comparisons: the connection involved brand ownership as well as an operating relationship. Current Norwegian eligibility, games or banking arrangements cannot be established from the 2013 transaction alone.

How the group changed over time

Several separate events explain why old Betsafe sister-site lists can disagree:

• June 2011: Betsson completed its acquisition of Betsafe through the holding company Artic Invest AS.
• June 2012: the NordicBet acquisition brought another established Nordic and Baltic business into the group.
• 2013: the Automaten transaction added brand ownership and marketing responsibility to an existing operating relationship.
• 2020: the GiG B2C acquisition brought in Rizk and other brands. Later that year, Betsson consolidated its British business around Rizk.
• June 2025: the Lithuanian Betsafe operation became Betsson.
• June 2026: Zecure Gaming Limited’s British remote casino permission was surrendered.

The Lithuanian rebrand announcement traces that particular operation back to the acquisition of TonyBet in 2016 and its change to Betsafe in 2017. The move to Betsson in 2025 was another step in the same local history. It should not be confused with the earlier British withdrawal, which concerned a different market.

Why Betsafe left Britain

Betsson’s third-quarter report for 2020 described a British operation spread across nine brands, three platforms and four licences. The group decided to concentrate on Rizk and returned three licences with effect from 21 October 2020. It said the other eight brands would remain in its portfolio for use elsewhere.

The report connected that decision with the cost of technology, compliance and marketing required by its UK operation. Britain then represented about 3% of group revenue. This explains the distinction between withdrawing a service from one country and closing an international brand altogether.

The later Zecure Gaming Limited record shows its remote casino permission ending on 22 June 2026, with a surrendered status. This is the record for that specific company and activity. An older review that points to Rizk as the group’s remaining British option is therefore relying on a historical position.

Old Betsafe accounts, payments and complaints

If an old account is the reason for your search, begin with its paperwork. The contracting company’s name, the domain used, account reference and closure correspondence are more useful than the logo of another group brand. Keep the relevant payment records and any outstanding withdrawal reference together.

For example, a customer with an unresolved withdrawal needs confirmation from the company responsible for that account. Finding Betsson and Betsafe in the same corporate portfolio does not establish that a new Betsson account contains the old balance. Ask the original operator for written instructions on the outstanding payment or complaint.

The Gambling Commission’s complaint guidance starts with contacting the gambling business and following its complaints process. The Commission says it does not decide individual gambling-transaction disputes. An old account’s applicable complaint and dispute-resolution arrangements therefore matter more than a current marketing contact at another brand.

Do not send identity or payment documents to an unrelated website claiming to replace Betsafe. Use the official route in the account correspondence and verify the company before providing information. A company acquisition or rebrand does not, by itself, establish that an unfamiliar domain is handling an old account.

Betsafe sister-site questions

Which brands are connected to Betsafe?

Betsson, NordicBet and Rizk are named alongside Betsafe by Betsson Group. Other names in older comparisons have their own histories, including the CasinoEuro and NorgesAutomaten connections explained above.

Is Betsafe open to British players?

Betsafe’s British service is closed. Overseas websites and app listings do not establish permission to serve Great Britain.

Did Betsafe become Betsson?

The Lithuanian operation changed from Betsafe to Betsson in June 2025. That was a market-specific rebrand; the group continues to identify Betsafe as a regional brand.

Are EuroCasino and CasinoEuro the same website?

No. EuroCasino uses eurocasino.com; CasinoEuro uses casinoeuro.com. Their similar names should not be used interchangeably when identifying an account or a company.
