The key distinction is the product behind the brand. Fixed-odds betting sets the stake at risk; sports spreads can lose more than the initial stake or deposit; financial trading has its own account and risk considerations. Sporting Index does not provide a replacement Spreadex casino.

Spreadex Quick Verdict

Where it excels
Fixed-odds and spread markets, a published telephone-support route, and a sports review profile that is positive overall but includes complaints. No live market count or support-speed test is claimed here.
Where caution belongs
Spread losses can exceed the stake or deposit. The casino is closed, and the regulator records enforcement in both 2022 and 2025. Positive customer ratings do not cancel that history.
Who stands behind it
Spreadex Limited operates the services. Fixed odds fall under the Gambling Commission; sports and financial spreads fall under the FCA.

Spreadex Relationships And Products At A Glance

Sporting Index is the corporate relationship supported by the current company-control record and merger history. The other Spreadex names in this table describe products within the operator, not separate casino brands. The Sporting Index position is dated to 10 September 2026: an ordered sale is not evidence that a sale has completed.

Spreadex Review – September 2026

Spreadex homepage screenshot – July 2026

The retained July homepage image shows the two main routes: Sports Betting and Financial Trading. The same split was visible in our September inspection, with polygon-style sporting figures on the left and a cityscape on the right. There is no casino entrance. More decisively, Spreadex’s casino closure notice expressly confirms that its casino app and website have closed.

Spreadex was founded in 1999 and is unusual because one company offers fixed odds, sports spreads and financial trading through closely connected services. The homepage makes that split explicit. Sports customers can use ordinary sportsbook markets, Bet Builder, live streaming and cash-out tools, or move into spread markets with variable profit and loss.

Spreadex’s public product pages advertise Bet Builder, streaming, price boosts and three cash-out options: one-click, automatic and partial. Sports fixed odds and spreads can be accessed from the same sports account, but they have distinct ledgers and different risk characteristics. The current account-opening page also advertises promotional bets and a separate spread-betting incentive, so a claim that Spreadex avoids sign-up offers would be misleading.

The financial side covers global shares, indices, foreign exchange and commodities through spread bets, CFDs and options. It is a separate risk category and a separate regulatory route. Casino players should not treat either product as a substitute for slots or live dealer games.

What Happened To The Spreadex Casino

The earlier casino review covered Chartwell-era slots, table games, scratch cards, video poker and live dealer games. That historical catalogue is not available through the closed casino. The current Spreadex licence entry shows real-event and virtual-event betting permissions, with no active casino permission listed. Neither that entry nor the closure notice gives an exact casino closure date.

Old casino free-spin, cashback and game-bonus claims are obsolete. The official closure notice says existing accounts and funds remain accessible through the sports platform, which is the route it gives for managing a former casino balance. That is not a requirement to place another bet. A balance or withdrawal problem should be raised with Spreadex support; it should not be treated as a transfer to Sporting Index or a financial-trading account.

Sports Spread Betting Risk

Fixed-odds betting limits the loss to the accepted stake. A sports spread bet works differently: the final return moves with the distance between the result and the quoted spread, so a poor outcome can produce a loss larger than the amount initially put down. Spreadex itself warns that the product may not suit everyone.

A hypothetical total-goals spread of 2.6–2.9 illustrates the arithmetic. Buying at 2.9 for £10 per point would produce an £11 profit if the match finished with four goals: (4 − 2.9) × £10. A goalless result would lose £29: (0 − 2.9) × £10. The £10 is a per-point multiplier, not a £10 maximum loss. Other markets can move far more points, and a credit limit is not necessarily a loss limit. This example explains exposure; it is not a suggested bet or evidence that stop tools guarantee an exit price.

Financial spread bets and CFDs add leverage and market volatility. Retail protections differ from professional-client treatment, and professional clients can trade on credit without negative balance protection. These are not bonus-led casino products and should not be described with casino wagering language.

The Company Behind The Spread

Spreadex was founded in 1999 by Jonathan Hufford, a former City of London dealer, and incorporated that February. The company is based at Churchill House in St Albans, where its own corporate page locates its trading operation. Its company profile reports that the Financial Times listed it among Europe’s 1,000 fastest-growing companies in 2017, and it has taken the Best Spread Betting Provider title at the City of London Wealth Management Awards four times, most recently in 2024.

Spreadex’s current sports pages show partner logos for Derby County, Watford, Norwich City, Sheffield United, Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers. That verifies those displayed associations, not an exhaustive nine-club total. Fulham’s own announcement dates its Spreadex Trading principal partnership to July 2021. Sponsorship demonstrates marketing reach, but says little about an individual withdrawal or the suitability of a leveraged product.

Licensing, Regulatory Action And Sporting Index

Spreadex Limited’s active UKGC permissions cover fixed-odds real and virtual events. Its regulatory and client-money explanation places both sports spread betting and financial spreads under FCA registration 190941. The same legal company can offer all three without the same rules applying to every product. For a complaint, identify the transaction and ledger first rather than relying only on the logo at the top of the page.

The Gambling Commission’s May 2025 enforcement announcement records a £2,022,000 penalty and third-party audit following anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failures between September 2022 and November 2023. It also notes the earlier £1.36 million settlement in 2022. This is repeated enforcement, not simply a one-off administrative blemish. The current licence remains active; that does not erase the findings.

Spreadex acquired Sporting Index’s consumer business in November 2023. The CMA case record documents the divestiture remedy, dismissal of Spreadex’s tribunal challenge on 19 March 2026, and refusal of permission to appeal on 5 June, announced on 12 June. The Sporting Index control record still lists Spreadex Limited with at least 75% of shares and voting rights in the source checked on 10 September. We found no completed-sale announcement in that case record. The relationship therefore remains supported by the available record, with the disposal process clearly qualified.

What Customers Say About Spreadex

The Spreadex Sports Trustpilot profile showed 4.4/5 from 2,270 reviews when checked for this update, including 573 in the preceding twelve months. The distribution was 66% five-star and 12% one-star. Recent positive comments mention payouts, offers and the website. These are sports-profile figures, not a combined score for financial trading or proof that customer transactions were independently audited.

The same profile contains negative feedback, including an August complaint about treatment during a debt-repayment discussion. Such reports should be read alongside the positive comments, without treating every allegation as established fact. The regulator’s repeated findings deserve more weight than a general impression of a well-run business. A helpful support interaction and a serious compliance failing can both exist; one does not disprove the other.

Which Spreadex Service Should You Choose?

  • Choose fixed-odds sports betting when you want a known maximum loss at the point the bet is placed.
  • Choose sports spread betting only if you understand variable settlement and the possibility of losing more than the initial stake.
  • Choose financial trading only for investment-market exposure and after assessing leverage, margin and FCA-regulated product risks.
  • Choose a separate UK-licensed casino if the actual goal is slots, bingo or live dealer games; Spreadex no longer supplies them.

Licensed Alternatives If Spread Risk Is Not For You

Because Spreadex has no casino stable, anyone arriving here from a sister-sites search is really choosing between risk models rather than skins. If the variable-loss mechanics feel like more than entertainment should carry, a conventional UKGC fixed-odds bookmaker caps every loss at the stake: Betfred is a high-street bookmaker comparison, Virgin Bet keeps its sportsbook deliberately simple, and Sportingbet adds a full Entain casino alongside its markets.

Betfred, Virgin Bet and Sportingbet are independent alternatives, not confirmed members of the Spreadex group. Spreadex itself still offers fixed-odds betting, so leaving the operator is not necessary simply to find that product. The separate-casino comparison matters because the Spreadex casino has closed. Check each alternative’s current products and contract separately; a familiar game or similar sportsbook design does not establish shared ownership.

Spreadex FAQs

Does Spreadex have any casino sister sites?

No. Spreadex Limited does not operate another consumer casino brand, and the former Spreadex casino is closed. Lists of unrelated casinos are alternatives, not genuine Spreadex sisters.

Is Sporting Index a Spreadex sister site?

Sporting Index’s control record still names Spreadex Limited in the source checked on 10 September 2026. The CMA required divestiture and the appeal route described on its case page failed. This is a qualified, dated corporate relationship; Sporting Index is a sports spread-betting brand, not an active casino sister.

Who owns Spreadex?

Spreadex Limited operates the services. Its Companies House control entry names Spreadex.Com Limited as holding at least 75% of shares and voting rights. The operating company and its parent should not be confused, and the control register alone does not supply a complete list of ultimate shareholders.

What licence does Spreadex hold?

Spreadex Limited holds active UKGC remote betting licence 008835-R-104580-022 for real and virtual events. It does not currently hold an active remote casino permission.

Is the Spreadex casino still available?

No. The casino app and website are closed. Spreadex now directs customers to sports betting or financial trading, and old casino promotions should not be treated as available.

Can sports spread betting lose more than the initial stake?

Yes. Unlike fixed-odds betting, the final profit or loss changes with how far the outcome moves above or below the quoted spread, so losses can exceed the initial stake.

Is Spreadex financial trading covered by the UKGC?

No. Spreadex identifies the FCA as regulator for financial trading and sports spread betting. Its UKGC permissions cover fixed-odds betting. That distinction also changes the external complaint route, as explained in the comparison below.

Is Spreadex suitable for beginners?

Fixed odds have a simpler stake-limited loss structure, but that does not make gambling suitable for everyone. Sports spreads require understanding variable settlement and losses beyond the stake or deposit. Helpful customer support does not remove that exposure. Do not select a more complex product because an introductory reward makes it look equivalent to an ordinary free bet.

Does Spreadex sponsor any football clubs?

Its September sports pages display Derby County, Watford, Norwich City, Sheffield United, Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers among their partner logos. Fulham announced a Spreadex Trading principal partnership in July 2021. Those dated observations should not be interpreted as a verified current nine-club total.
